Interview Preparation

Preparing for that Interview : Help me get that job!
No matter how right you believe you are for a particular role the interviewer does not know it.  They may not even call you for interview.   Every candidate has to prepare well for every interview and this includes preparing their Curriculum Vitae.  Failing to invest that important time in interview preparation usually results in dissapointment - either not even being called for interview or not being successful at the interview stage.  The more this goes on the less confident you become and the cycle continues.   This page gives some interview tips to help you apply for and get that job.

You can master the skills of good interviewers if you want to invest the time in it. There are a number of questions that you need to ask your-self.  For example:
1. You must become more self-aware:  What are your skills?  What conpetencies do you have to complement these skills?
2. What are your achievements?  What competencies/behaviours were crucial to helping you?
3. What areas have you demonstrated your competencies?
4. What are the real strengths that you bring to teams?
5. What are the things that you really like doing, get a sence of acheivement out of, really motivate you?
6. What is important to you in a role?

You must think about your prospective employers and roles and again ask some questions.  For example:
1. What exactly are they looking for? What is the profile of the ideal person?
2. How do my competencies and achievement match to their needs and the person profile?
3. What experience do they need and again how do I match?
4. What do they need from this person in the future?  How can I deliver here?

The more you understand yourself and what the recruiting organisation is looking for the easier it will be for you to design your CV to get you an interview and prepare yourself to answer the interview questions.

How can we help you?
  • We can work with you to help you answer the questions about yourself and gain a  deeper understanding of your competencies and your achievements.
  • We can help you to translate these into your CV.
  • We can help you build confidence and self-belief.  Many people overlook things that they have acheived in work and take for granted the competencies that they possess that helped them achieve it.
  • We can help you understand more about the role that you play in teams and how to sell and develop your strengths in this area
  • Once you have been called for interview, we can help you prepare for the interview exploring interview techniques, identifying potential questions, and how to answer them competently giving evidenceof expereience and necessary behaviours
  • We can help you prepare for and deliver an effective presentation when it forms part of the interview process

Choosing, changing or developing your career can be both exciting and daunting and fraught with difficulties. If you are happy in your career, in a role that “fits” with your values, goals and personalities it will help you to lead a productive, satisfying and fulfilling life. If not, it is easy to become very disillusioned, unhappy and experience feelings of stress.

Today, we are all responsible for our own careers. We need to identify what our goals and values are and the career that fits with these. We need to identify the skills that we need to develop these careers for ourselves; determine how to seek the opportunities to move us in the right direction; identify the right actions for us to move us forward towards our career goals; make the right choices that benefit us.

Working with a coach will help you make the right decisions and actions to move you forward in the right direction.
