Communication Skills
What is communication? What are communication skills?
Communication is a tool of business. Without it nothing gets done. Sometimes with it, nothing gets done!
Even though we communicate everyday, we are not always effective. So, the question we need to ask ourselves and explore is "What is effective communication?" or "What are effective communication skills?"
Communication is a complex process and fraught with difficulties and barriers. It is a process of transfering information from one person or entity to another. However, in that process the message we intended to deliver may get "lost in translation." So, effective communication only occurs when the message you send or deliver is received and understood by the receiver in the manner that you intended it to be. This involves a number of skills:
1. Articulation. Being able to articulate your message for your audience
2. Active listening skills
3. Asking questions to help you gather more information about the other person\\\'s point of view, concerns, understanding etc.
4. Responding to any concerns etc effectively
5. Using appropriate body language and responding to body language effectively
6. Strong interpersonal skills
What are interpersonal skills? Interpersonal skills are the skills we use to interact and deal with others in different situations. People with good interpersonal skills identify which are the best ways of interacting with others in different situations and in groups.
Developing effective communication and interpersonal skills is a must for everyone.
